About us

Topeka Stroke Survivor Group Foundation dba Stroke Connections started as the Topeka Stroke Survivor group.

Originally starting as a monthly support group for stroke survivors and their caregivers at Kansas Rehab, sharing stories, advice, and experiences together. The members then started scheduling social events that they could do together outside of support group.

Eventually it was decided to start a weekly coffee group and a monthly dinner.

In addition to helping families get settled in their new normal, a lot of stroke survivors struggle re-entering the community with their newfound disabilities/limitations. We, as a group, decided we wanted to help with that too. Providing support, sharing resources, and helping each other along the way.

This is when we created Stroke Connections as a non-Profit. We are a non-discrimination group who have fun together regardless of age, race, religion, orientation, or ability.
